Addressing Liver Disease and Access to Transplant Care in Alabama

This program is designed for  GI, PCP, NP, APP and nurses working with Liver Patients.

OBJECTIVES

• Define liver disease (including MASH/NAFLD, alcoholic steatohepatitis, and viral hepatitis), its etiologies, common presentations, and manifestations.
• Discuss prevalence and treatment access disparities for patients with liver disease in Alabama communities.
• Describe current treatment options, including medical management, liver transplantation, and palliative care.
• Decide when to refer patients to a higher level of care vs. when to continue to surveil for signs of disease progression
• Understand the importance of referral and coordination between primary care providers and transplant centers

The Session will take place In-Person. A very limited seating is available to be held at the Dothan Country Club, 200 South Cherokee, Dothan, AL  36301.    The session includes networking and a complimentary dinner.

The first half-hour will be a networking opportunity followed by  the presentation from Robert Cannon, MD, FACS and Meagan Gray, MD The presentation is expected to last 1.25 hours and will be followed with a question and answer discussion session. All times are Central Daylight Savings Time.
