Bile Ducts

Bile ducts are the tubes that carry bile throughout the liver and onward to the small intestine. Bile is the substance the body needs to break down food, separate out and eliminate toxins and metabolize vitamins and even medications that the body needs to function properly. In some cases, the ducts or tubes that transport bile in the liver can become damaged.

There are two major types of Bile Duct conditions. Primary Biliary Cholangitis (PBC) and Primary Sclerosis Cholangitis (PSC).
